There are only three things you can do…

John O’Sullivan, in his book, Changing the Game, says: “There are only three things you can do while watching your child’s competition, and you should only be one of these at a time. They are: be a coach, be an official, be a fan. Each of these roles seems self-explanatory and comes with its own set of responsibilities, each of which is incredibly important to the growth and development of your child. When you go to your child’s game or match, you can be only one of these things, and every time you cross the line and try to do two or more roles, you end up confusing your child.”
